Sign our petition below to demonstrate to the Brown administration that people at Brown support access to childcare. Please sign if you are a parent, are planning to become a parent, or if you believe that Brown should not force the members of its community to have to choose between a productive professional life or having a family.
Keep it open! Access to childcare is essential!
The very fact that there has to be a petition to drag the University into the 21st century speaks volumes. It is unthinkable that this choice is the best the administration can make for the institution.
As an ambitious female who wants a family one day, I do not want to have to choose between a career and children when I believe both are essential to a full life. Brown always taught me that I could do anything that I set my mind to and that a healthy life balance was important. I hope the University will continue to practice what they preach.
Having access to affordable and local daycare is crucial to insuring that all people (students, staff, faculty) can succeed at Brown.
Please keep the daycare center open. The general workforce is already very hostile to working mothers and I would hope that the academic community would be more considerate.
As a parent of a Brown rising sophomore, AND as a working mother (who works at a university), it is very important to me that the outstanding staff members at Brown who make my daughter’s education possible have decent working conditions — including childcare. Brown should stand for social justice in real ways, not just in rhetoric.
PLEASE KEEP THE DAYCARE CENTER OPEN. ALL BROWN STAFF NEED ACCESS TO A DAY CARE.
